God's Double Portion

The sermon for Sunday, June 16, 2019, Father's Day, was based on 2 Kings 2:1-2, 6-14. This is the story of Elijah and Elisha, two faithful prophets of God in the 9th century BC. Elijah will pass the mantle of authority on to Elisha, to continue God's work in the world. We are called to work faithfully as well in God's service. Doing so, we receive from God a double portion of spiritual blessings to enable us to continue our work as faithfully as Elijah and Elisha. Come, watch, and see.

Cleaning Up Our Acts

Sermon from June 9, 2019, on Children's Sunday, based on Isaiah 1:15-20. We involve Dr. Seuss's less-than-reliable character of the Cat in the Hat to help illustrate how we can clean up our acts when we create big messes in our lives if we trust in God. Come and see how that all works out together. Join us on Sunday morning for worship if you are in our area!

Beyond Loaves and Fishes: Judges: Week 7

Tuesday night, June 4, 2019, at 8 p.m., we continued the story of Gideon's triumph over the Midianites by most unusual means. Soon we will move on into extremely hard territory with Jephthah and an inadvisable vow. The author of Judges will be holding up a mirror to us and asking some hard questions. Drop by. It will be enlightening!

Subscribe to the J.S. Brooks YouTube channel, click on the bell, and you'll receive updates as to the next live stream experience. Go to: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheJBSnyder

Please note that after next week, June 11, 2019, Beyond Loaves and Fishes will be taking a summer vacation and will return again in the fall, when the pastor is rested and has had a chance to consider some additional ideas for the live stream! Fear not, though, as this gives you chances to catch up on our previous live streams on the books of Matthew, Ruth, Judges, and our Lenten live stream series for 2019. September will be here before you know it.

Be One

Sermon for Sunday, June 2, 2019, based on John 17:20-26. Jesus prays his disciples will be unified in their ministry. This unity is reached by loving one another and serving each other despite their many differences. That prayer continues on into the present and the future, calling us to be unified in our love for each other and our loving service to others. It's a powerful prayer and a labor that leads to joy. Come and watch and give it a try!
