Get Away From Here

Sermon based on Luke 13:31-35, exploring Jesus' love for humanity, a love that would not be thwarted by opposing forces, that reached out to the forgotten and discarded people, even in the face of death by opposing powers. Jesus calls to us, offering that powerful love to us. We need to consider this Lenten season and always whether we will accept that offered love or tell Jesus to "get away from here."

Lenten Prayer Services 2016: Consider Yourself Invited

Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM on February 24, March 2, 9, and 23, prayer services will be held in the sanctuary of Lansdowne Baptist Church. These are times to pause from the busy day and actually undertake the self-examination, spiritual reflection, repentance, sacrifice, and focused prayer the season calls us to perform. During those brief evening services, we will explore together different facets of the spiritual discipline of prayer, as it guides us to better know Jesus Christ. The aspects of prayer explored during those weeks will be: prayer and community, prayer and service, prayer and perseverance, & prayer and discipleship. Anyone interested is invited to attend.

Wishing you a blessed season of Lent and Easter.

Peace.

Wilderness Test

This sermon is based on Luke 4:1-13, Jesus' wilderness testing at the beginning of his ministry. As we reflect in the season of Lent on our lives over the past year, preparing to turn around and change, we can ask ourselves how we have responded to temptation. Can we follow Jesus' example in this regard?
